Our Story

No pun intended, but it is always bittersweet when I say that I am glad
you are here. But it is true. You are not alone.

I am the mother of the sweetest boy who happens to have Type 1 Diabetes –diagnosed at 20 months old. How I got so lucky to have him as my son, and how he got so unlucky to get this diagnosis, I do not know.

Despite 15 years of international healthcare management experience at the time, nothing could quite prepare me for such a diagnosis. It hits hard.

In addition to all the information to take in, there is also the roller coaster of emotions to deal with. This includes so many questions about medication, devices and how to incorporate all of it into one's daily life. At the time I was so shocked, I didn't even think of those questions.

It was a nurse educator who suggested I get a cute pump pack for my son to more easily carry his insulin pump. Oh the irony that he only had his insulin pump for less than an hour at the time. I struggled to find the "cool" factor.

The more I learned and supported my son as he grew and experienced life with diabetes, the more I knew I wanted to – and needed to – do more to support people with diabetes.

Traditional images of diabetes can be quite dark and gloomy. I am pleased to say that this is changing and everyone at Diapoint is truly committed to being a part of this change.

It is our mission at Diapoint to share knowledge, connect people and to improve the quality of life of people with diabetes and those around them.

This includes enabling people with all types of diabetes to have access to products that are functional and beautiful.

We select and design our products with much love. Many of them we have tested or use ourselves. And, many are created by people with diabetes, or those who have been touched by diabetes.

We are very passionate about supporting people with diabetes. In addition to what we offer in our shop, we organize events, constantly share our story and advocate for people with diabetes. We also provide many free resources and some of our proceeds go to local diabetes charities.
